Those Nigerian Scam Artisits are at it again!

Dating BlogWell it looks like a woman in Florida fell for another Nigerian Scam Artist. A surprising twist here is instead of the usual scam, asking for money to be sent to them (to usually pay for "medical bills" or a "trip" to the US). The crook had started having packages sent to her house and had then asked her to forward them on too him. Police soon caught wind of this since she was unknowingly sending him stolen goods. Most of the items she was sending him was household items like ceiling fans and jewelry.

I'm surprise people still trust anyone who says they are in Africa after all the publicity this past year on Nigerian Scam Artists (and I am not sure why they all seem to be from Nigeria). I also find it interesting that it seems most of these crooks are male preying on females. I wonder if men who have been scammed are too embarrassed to come forward?

    hi,
I'm a 40 yr. old divorced woman who decided to try the online dating. I talked to alot of nice sounding men, but none i connected with. THen, i tried Singlesnet. Well, i was contacted by 10 men who claimed they were in Africa on business trips, and all were coming home in 2-3 weeks. How wierd is that, a whole plane full of Singlenet men leaving Africa at the same time.
Well, it gets better. One gave me his phone number, the one in Seattle Washington because of course, he's not from Africa, he's just there on business. I called the number, got a generic voicemail then looked the number up online. It belonged to a woman, without his last name. I then looked him up, and in the US, he doesn't exist. Well, the next day, he came up with a sob story on how he lost his credit cards and had no money and needed me to help him get money. He was stranded in Nigeria and the food was making him oh so ill. So he needed money to get out of Africa, and eat, of course. No, he didn't want it from me. He said he wanted his friend to send me $8,500.00 and i was then to send it to him in Africa. He asked me about my bank accounts and such. When i confronted him with the knowledge i had gained of his lack of existence in this country, he avoided my questions, and eventually, i ignored his responses and blasted him via Instant Messaging. Of course he laid the classic "you don't how much your hurting me" guilt trip. But, at this point, the only thing i believed was that he knew how to type.
Be careful girls. If out of state men contact you, pay close attention to the way they write. If you haven't talked to them on the phone, that is. Reason; people write the way they speak. You can catch a Nebraskan with a Russian accent in a heartbeat. Good luck and stay safe.

Same thing happened to me... he sound so nice and hard to understand what he want on phone calls. Fake picture on dating site. Very good english love letters. But beware, ask him, he should have his own family or business partner to help him out while stuck in Africa.... not Canada.

OMG-A beautiful woman on Match.com sent me a message saying they found me "so" interesting. Said they were getting off Match and gave me their personal email. I am a lesbian and was looking for other women and this woman was gorgeous! She even left me a link to her webpage to "learn more about her" because she owned an Antiques store in Bellville, GA. When I visited the webpage there were believable photos of an old antique store in what looked to be Geogia. There were pages upon pages of the merchandise as well as more photos of her. She claimed to be in Africa buying antiques for the store but would be back in state in 4 days. We emailed a few times and she told me she lost her lover to cancer and "Michelle" died and left her heartbroken and she has love noone since then...until of course she saw and spoke to me. She had horrible grammar and her mail was hard to follow at times but then at times, I'd get these beautifully crafted statements which were obviously copied. In the end, she claimed to be still in Africa and Customs was giving her a hard time to ship her items back and threatened to seize if she did not get rest of money. She claims to have had a son who was back in Georgia with her ill sister and she need about $2000 to get the merchandise home so that she could see her son and me before Thanksgiving. After researching her and the address of the store on her webpage, they did not exist and I realized this was a fraud. It almost got me because, the web page with the store and stuff seemed quite believable and she was very care about how she asked for the money of course professed a deep deep love for me after a few days. Anyway, I say this to say they are getting better and better in their scams! BE CAREFUL!

I went through all the comments with a very strong feeling for being a NIGERIAN don't get me wrong I am not supporting the act. Such acts does not only happen in Nigeria but also in every other parts of the world. Simply because some online dating sites users from Nigeria are scammers doesn't indicate that everyother users from Nigeria are scammers, I greatly disagree with that notion. I have an American girl friend which have been dating for good 4yrs, have never asked her for a dime and we are getting along very well. I called her on her phone every two days and she do the same to me too, we chat online every Tuesday which is her off day from work. She trusted me so much....... This is not a fabricated story at all... if you doubt me and want to confirm get back at me via obayomiayo@yahoo.com

    100% Nigerian.

I am widowed now for 5 years and finally decided to try this Singlenet dating. What a nightmare! Just like you said I had this guy approach me and at first everything was normal and he was in Africa on business and coming in 2-3 weeks. Shortly after that supposed he had a daughter and her birthday was coming and he wanted me to send a monetary gift via western union. I ask for his physical address so that I could mail her a gift but that was not good for him. Then supposedly his daughter got drastically sick and he needed money for the hospital, I told him I did not have any money and could not help him. The next situation was that he needed $2,000.00 to get out of Africa some kind of duty requirement. I got in touch with the embassey and gave him all the info. The next situation was that he needed money for transportation to the embassey. His name supposedly is Chris Jones and his email is awendyluv101@yahoo.com.

The next guy that approach me Jim Rodgers of the same Singlenet dating websit. After 2-3 days of emails, his supposed son named Morris ate sweet bread with glass and needed $2,000.00 immediately. Well these guys must have been working on the same computer and scamming women left and right. I sent them both the same email telling them that I have family in law enforcement and that they would GPS them and press charges. They stopped communicating finally and besides that I blocked them out of my computer. This person's email is Jim_500rodgers@yahoo.com.

Please be careful this is a business for them and we are the targets because of our loneliness.

Nigerian users are 100% scammers. I have not met a serious user from african till now.

So if we meet nigerian users, we just need to report to customer service, I'm sure those users will be removed at once.
It's my experience from online dating.

I am also a soon to be divorced female and met a male online claiming to live in TX and told me that he went to Africa, (Nigeria) for a business trip. I had no idea that people were scamming Americans from these countries. I have been chatting with him and he gave me his number and I sometimes talk with him. He has asked me for money several times and told me he lost his passport and needs to come back to the USA.
Believe it or not, have gained feelings for this man from the beautiful emails and poetry he has sent me over the past month or so. I thought something wasnt right because he told me he would be here soon, but something always came up and he couldnt get here. I then researched the website and found that there were Nigerian and Russian scammers out there. I am sure others as well.
Be careful who you talk to on these internet dating websites. If they claim to be out of the country on business and then ask for money, odds are they are just scamming you.
I am lucky that all I lost was my dignity and not my bank account. I sure hope you do the same...

I also had someone try to scam me. The key word is tried. But the situation sounded funny from the start so I had my eyes and ears open the whole time. I read a lot of the posts before mine and do agree that what these people are doing is wrong but i also agree with the other posts that there are scammers, and wrong doers in all parts of the world.

But after having a bad experience some of us do tend to try and steer clear of anything similar. So if you happen to be from that country and you are truly looking for somone they are probably making it hard for you too.

My Top Tip for revenge on scammers I have found that scammers, tend to use yahoo as their mail system of choice. I have also noticed thay the scammer often uses the same password for their email account as they do to set you the account on your site. So for fun, I log into their yahoo mail account and change their password, that sets them back a little. have fun... Messenger contacts offers adult chat for free.
